Mixed GST rates on one bill
A 5% item, an 18% item and an item with no GST in the same basket, all on one bill and split correctly.
For retail shops
Most retail billing software starts with a form to book a demo. This one starts with your first bill. Sign up, pick the kirana or retail preset, and you are billing before a salesperson would have called back.
What you get
A 5% item, an 18% item and an item with no GST in the same basket, all on one bill and split correctly.
Keep a stock count per item and get told when fast movers run low.
Every customer's balance against their phone number, with what came in today and who owes what.
Bring in the item list you already have instead of typing it again.
A returned item raises a proper credit note against the original bill.
Each item carries its own rate and HSN code, set once in Setup. When a basket mixes rates, the bill works out the tax line by line and prints the breakup a GST tax invoice has to show, from the one tax engine every screen uses. Staff at the counter never choose a rate themselves.
Inside your state the tax splits into CGST and SGST; for a registered buyer in another state it becomes IGST. The app decides which from the customer's state, so an out-of-state bill is right without anyone at the counter thinking about it.
Start with the twenty items you sell most, not the whole shop. Bill those in the app for a week while the rest stay on paper, then import the full item list from a spreadsheet. That way you switch over in stages, without closing the counter for a day.
Keep the old bill book for the returns that come back from before the switch. From the first day, every new bill has a proper number in its own series and a copy you can find again, which a carbon copy never quite gave you.
Every bill is raised against a customer's phone number. Record what they paid, and whatever is left stays on their account. The ledger shows each customer's balance, what came in today and who has not paid in a while, so the udhaar book on the counter can go.
When a regular pays off part of their balance, record the payment against their number and the account updates. The customer can be sent their bills on WhatsApp whenever there is a question about what they owe.
Raise a credit note against the original bill rather than editing or deleting it. The credit note carries the original bill's number and date and the same tax treatment, which is what the GST rules require, and the refund or store credit is recorded separately.
Issued bills in Invoice Saathi cannot be quietly edited afterwards. A correction is always a new document that points back at the old one, so your records hold up if your CA or a tax officer ever asks.
For an exchange, raise the credit note for the returned item and a new bill for the one the customer takes instead.
Free to start, INR 2,500 or INR 5,000 a year.
