For cafes and counters

Billing software for cafes and food counters

Most cafe software is sold as a restaurant system, with a price and a setup visit to match. A counter that takes the order, takes the money and hands over a receipt needs much less than that, and should not pay for the rest.

What you get

What it does at a cafe counter

5% GST on prices that already include tax

Set the price you print on the board; the bill splits out the tax for you.

Hold a bill, open the next

Park one order while the next customer pays, then come back to it.

Discounts and split payments

Item or bill discounts, and one bill paid partly by UPI and partly in cash.

A 58mm receipt in seconds

Prints to the thermal printer on the counter, or goes to the customer on WhatsApp.

Keeps billing offline

A dropped network does not stop the counter.

What it does not do

  • No kitchen order tickets (KOT), table map or captain app.
  • No Zomato or Swiggy order sync.
  • If you run a full-service restaurant, a restaurant POS is built for that.

How does GST work on a cafe menu price?

Most cafes print one price on the board, with GST already inside it. At 5%, a Rs 105 item is Rs 100 of food and Rs 5 of tax, split as Rs 2.50 CGST and Rs 2.50 SGST. The app works that split out on every bill, so the board price never has to change.

In Setup you mark prices as tax-inclusive and set the rate once. At the counter, staff tap items at the price the customer already knows, and the tax breakup appears only on the printed bill.

A discount on the whole bill is spread across the items before tax is worked out, which is how the GST rules want it done. That keeps the tax on a discounted bill correct rather than overstated.

Do you need a restaurant POS or just counter billing?

If orders go straight from the counter to the customer, counter billing is enough. If waiters take orders at tables and a separate kitchen cooks them, you need kitchen tickets and table management, which is what a full restaurant POS is for. Invoice Saathi is the first kind, on purpose.

Tea stalls, juice bars, takeaway counters, bakeries with a few tables and cafes where people order at the counter all fit counter billing. You take the order, take the money, print the receipt and hand over the food.

Paying for a full restaurant system when you run a counter means paying for a captain app, a kitchen display and aggregator links you will never switch on.

How do you keep the counter fast in the evening rush?

Keep the menu on a tap grid grouped by category, park an order with Hold when a customer is still deciding, and let payment be split between UPI and cash on one bill. Everything to do with tax is set once in Setup, so nothing about it ever appears on the billing screen.

Bills are saved on the device first, so a slow or dropped connection never makes the queue wait. They sync to your account later.

Which numbers should a cafe owner watch every day?

Sales split by UPI and cash, the items that sold most and least, and expenses such as milk, vegetables, gas and salaries. Enter expenses as they are paid and the report shows what the day actually left you, not just what went through the till.

The item report is where menus get better. A dish that sells twice a week but needs its own ingredients is worth questioning; one that sells forty times a day is worth pricing carefully.

Bills also carry the customer's phone number when you add it, so regulars can be sent their bill on WhatsApp and found again later.

Free to start, INR 2,500 or INR 5,000 a year.

FAQ

Common questions

Is this a restaurant POS?
No. It is counter billing: take the order, bill it, print. There are no kitchen tickets or table maps, which keeps it simple and the price at INR 5,000 a year.
What GST rate does a cafe charge?
Most standalone cafes and restaurants charge 5% without input tax credit. Set the rate once in Setup and every bill applies it. Check with your CA if you are inside a hotel or run outdoor catering, where the rules differ.
Can I use it on a tablet at the counter?
Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or PC and installs to the home screen.
Is there a free version?
Yes, up to 25 bills a month. A busy counter goes past that on the first day, so treat the free plan as a trial run and Pro as the working plan.
